So proud and relieved to finish all my weekend tasks (read: teacher duties) last Saturday night, and the boy worked overnight until Sunday morning so we decided to treat ourselves for a little lazy Sunday tambay and busog lusog dinner. We wanted to keep it simple and planned to go for a Japanese fix at YakiMix but then ended up in a little homey restaurant called Finio. They offer dinner buffet for Php295 (breakfast buffet at Php135, lunch at Php265).
Finio goes by the tagline “modern filipino” and they serve, of course, Filipino cuisine. For the dinner buffet, they have this “Mongolian” special in addition to the Filipino dishes.
The selection is quite limited, it’s a very small cozy cafe. Of the dishes served, I liked the fish taosi best and beef pochero best. The pinakbet was a little dry, the crispy pata was so-so, and I can definitely cook better adobo. Dessert selection was limited as well, they only were serving pineapples and watermelon, and a weird overly-milky macaroni salad.
TASTE and FOOD SELECTION: 2.5/5; It definitely can be better. Apart from the selection being very few, some entrees were served cold, while the fruits were not. The Mongolian selection is quite a nice addition. All the other comments were already mentioned (see above). Tried their breakfast menu once before and I give it a a 3.5/5. Especially they have tuyo and champorado.
PRICE: 4/5; If you’re looking for a place to be busog and nothing else, then Finio can be that. For Php295 for an eat-and-drink-all-you-can, definitely not bad.
